A D&D 4e Combat Manager
Please note: this web-site is going down on 28 April 2017!!!
4eTurnTracker will continue to be hosted by Launchpad. Here you may download the lastest builds of the program (version 2.0.12) and you have access to the source code of the project.
Cost of this Web-site is 120 EUR per year. I have added a Donate button below, in case you would like to contribute to the the upkeep of the Web-site beyond April 2017.
4eTurnTracker continues to be a popular program, even though many are playing 5e these days. However, I am no longer using the program myself so I plan to invest the money I spend on this site into a new project! :)
Thanks, and all the best to the fans!
- Paul McCullagh
NOTE: If 4eTurnTracker is crashing on startup then it is probably failing to load the history.
The quickest solution to this problem is to remove the "history.log" file from the "4eTurnTracker Data" folder and restart. Unfortunately you will also loose the state of the game when you do this.
If you have a bit of time, and you are not using the latest version, then try that first! If you experience such a crash, please drop me a note, and I will contact you ASAP. If you send me your history.log file I can usually fix these problem quite quickly, and get you up and running again. And, this will benefit other users of the program as well, of course!
Another less common reason for startup failure is the program settings. You can remove the settings manually, thereby resetting the program as follows:
On the Mac remove the file "<home>/Library/Preferences/com.4eturntracker.4eTurnTracker.plist", where <home> is your home directory. On Windows you need to delete the 4eturntracker settings from the Registry: Go to the Start menu and enter "regedit" in the program search box. Click on the regedit.exe program to start it. Search for the element: "Computer/HKEY_CURRECT_USER/Software/4eFactory/4eTurnTracker". Select the 4eTurnTracker element and hit the DELETE key.
After delete the program settings, start 4eTurnTracker. No data will be lost by removing the settings, just the selected window positions, and other "preferences" you have selected.
If 4eTurnTracker continues to crash, please contact me! Helping me to find the bugs will benefit all users :)

Known Issues with 2.0.04:
KI46: (Fixed: 2.0.06) The program may crash after saving 2 or more effects. This crash repeats on restart, and can only be fixed by removing the "history.log". Alternative is to wait for 2.0.05, which will not crash on startup when reading the history.log.

KI38: (Fixed: 2.0.03) Psychic spelled wrong in the damage type drop down.
Known Issues with 1.5.08:

KI36: (Fixed: 2.0.01) Be careful when selecting "Any Monster" as the origin of an effect. If you have previous selected the end condition "End of next turn", the program will crash.
Known Issues with 1.5.07:
KI35: (Fixed: RN144, 1.5.08) Setting the portrait of a Monster that was imported from a .monster file cause the display of the monster to break. WORKAROUND: After setting the portrait, save and then restart the program. The monster will then be displayed correctly, with the portrait.
KI34: Traps import error: "Cresset Trap" from Dungeon Issue #156 page 118 leaves an extra "F". Also "Whirling Blades".

KI27: (Fixed: RN136, 1.5.06) Imported Monster files that do not have a ".monster" extension are not loaded after restarting 4eTurnTracker.
If you have already imported Monster files without this extension then locate then you can fix the problem as follows:
Known Issues with 1.5.03:
KI26: Preview of changes to monsters during combat should not show in the Player's Window.
KI25: Additional HP granted when applying a healing surge to multiple targets are ignored.
KI24: The "preview" of resulting HP when applying a healing surge to multiple targets is incorrect. The HP is accumulated for each target in the list.
Known Issues with 1.5.02:
KI23: In the monster manager, if you have an encounter called "ENC 1: the trap", then copy the title (cut n paste) and create a new encounter and paste the name in, before editing it to say "ENC2: Escape?" it renames the original encounter!
KI22: Sometimes "Remove Creatures" does not work on Mac OS X.
I cannot repeat this bug.
KI21: Sometimes when an encounter is ended, the initiative list is not redrawn.
I cannot repeat this bug.
KI20: The program crashes when you select "Any Monster" from the Origin popup in the Conditions and Effects dialog.
This bug is fixed in version 1.5.03 (RN114).
Known Issues with 1.5.01:
KI19: Intelligence display is broken in the monster Stat Blocks.
This bug is fixed in version 1.5.02 (RN108).
Known Issues with 1.0.09:
KI18: Dragging the widgets out of the Main Window can lead to a repeating crash on restart. To avoid the crash you need to delete the preferences, to reset all window positions to the default. On Windows, you need to delete the registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/4eFactory/4eTurnTracker. On the Mac delete the file: ~/Library/Preferences/com.4eturntracker.4eTurnTracker.plist.
Using Regedit to remove the 4eTurnTracker registry key:
This bug is fixed in version 1.0.10 (RN97).
KI17: Cancel the Short Rest dialog does not restore the Healing Surge and Hit Point levels changed in the dialog.
This bug is fixed in version 1.0.10 (RN92).
KI16: Marking a creature by "Any Monster" causes a crash. The crash is repeated on startup when the History Log is read in. You need to remove the history.log file in order to continue.
This bug is fixed in version 1.0.10 (RN90).
KI15: Renaming a Character that is in the initiative list (i.e. part of the current party) may lead to a crash when the history log is replayed (for example when the program is restarted). Currently the only solution to this problem is to remove the history log, and restart.
This bug does not affect renaming Monsters, because changing a Monster's name does not affect Monsters already in combat.
This bug is fixed in version 1.0.10 (RN85).
KI14: When there's a short rest after an encounter, and one character uses a HS, the number of AP's on the player window increases to 2. As soon as you press OK, the value is returned to 1.
This bug is fixed in version 1.0.10 (RN88).

I cannot repeat this bug.
KI11: If you have a lot of characters (20+), the Pick Party Dialog becomes too big for the display.
KI10: When a PC is created, the Character incorrectly begins with zero HP, Healing Surges and Action Points. As a work around, make sure that newly created characters have an extended rest before the first encounter begins.
This bug is fixed in version 1.0.09 (RN72).
KI9: Granting an Action Point in the Short Rest dialog does not work correctly. Use Action Point in the Conditions and Effect dialog also does not work correctly.
This bug is fixed in version 1.0.09 (RN56).
KI8: In the Character Creator edit panel, the CHA edit box incorrectly display the INT value.
This bug is fixed in version 1.0.09 (RN52).
Known Issues with 1.0.06:
KI7: Delete a monster in monster window. Then, create a new monster with same name. The program still thinks the previous monster exists and warns of a name clash with old monster.
NOTE: This is not a bug. If you delete a character or monster, you must first save the changes before you can create a new creature with the same name. A dialog now indicates this.
KI6: Using the "Hit!" button when an encounter is not running causes a crash. Unfortunately the program will also then crash on restart. The history.log must be removed to start 4eTurnTracker without a crash.
This bug is fixed in version 1.0.07 (RN40).
Known Issues with 1.0.05:
KI5: The Conditions and Effects list is not updated on change. This is simply a refresh problem.
These bugs are fixed in 1.0.06 (RN37).
KI4: Ongoing damage does not work correctly, and using this feature is currently not recommended.
These bugs are fixed in 1.0.06 (RN38).
Known Issues with 1.0.04:
KI3: When a creature has an on-going effect, with save ends, and the end of return is repeated by going back in the history. on the second turn end, the dialog for save ends does not appear as expected.
This bug is fixed in version 1.0.05.
Known Issues with 1.0.03:
KI2: Bug in History reading: the program does not read past an Extended Rest in the history on restart. Changes beyond this point are lost. To avoid this error, Clear History after an Extended Rest.
This bug is fixed in version 1.0.04.
KI1: Bug when saving Encounters: If you deleted creatures from an encounter it may happen that same "garbage" is left over at the end of the .txt file to which the encounter is saved.
This is because the text file is not correctly truncated after saving. The additional garbage may show up as "monsters" in the encounter, and may be impossible to remove by deleting in the Monster Manger.
You can remove the garbage yourself using any plain text editor.
This issue has been fixed in version 1.0.04.
